Gratia Shatters School Record at Keyth Talley Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La. – Alexis Gratia shattered a school record, and three other Jags secured event wins as the South Alabama Track and Field closed a successful second weekend at the LSU Keyth Talley Invitational. 

In the Field

Gratia shattered the school record in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 4.11 meters (13 feet 5.75 inches) to secure her second event win this outdoor season, beating the former record of 4.10 meters (13 feet 5.25 inches) which was set by Jordan Friz in 2014. 

Bodine Degli-Umberti was a headliner for the South Alabama throwers. Degli-Umberti opened the competition with a monstrous throw of 14.59 meters to earn the event win in the shot put before clinching first place in the discus with a toss of 49.13 meters. Degli-Umberti closed her day with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.07 meters. 

 Kyle Rademeyer dominated the pole vault once again for the Jaguars. Rademeyer catapulted to an outdoor season-best of 5.46 meters to take first place in the competition, outjumping his competitors by nearly two feet. 

After being named Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week this past week, Francois Prinsloo picked up right where he left off with a commanding performance in the discus. Prinsloo launched a throw of 58.94 meters to top the meet record and secure second place in the competition. Sebastian Loschner also had a successful day, taking third place with a throw of 53.98 meters in discus.  

Samuel Mika and Jake Wentz rounded out the impressive outings for the Jaguar throwers. Mika earned third place with a season-high toss of 15.82 meters, while Wentz set a new personal record in the javelin with a throw of 60.05 meters.  

Caleb Mabins turned in a stellar performance in the triple jump and long jump. Mabins leaped to a personal best jump of 7.39 meters to take fourth place in the long jump before claiming third place in the triple jump with a mark of 14.41 meters. Competing alongside Mabins in the triple jump, Tashod Wingfield took fourth place with a 13.80-meter leap (45'3.5"). 

The women's triple jump saw Iyana Johnson claim her third place for the second time in as many weeks. Johnson logged a leap of 12.43 meters to climb onto the podium. 

On the Track

Over on the track, Kendal White continued his impressive start to the outdoor season, blistering to a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 53.59, while Bo Webb took sixth place with a time of 55.82.

South Alabama logged two Top 10 finishes in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Grace Wolf turned in her second fourth-place finish in as many weeks, posting a time of 1:01.01 and Rachel Hunter finished in sixth with a time of 1:01.95. 

Tia Acker continued her impressive start to the outdoor season. Acker claimed eighth place in the 200 meters with a time of 24.50. Acker also sets the fifth highest time in the 100 meters with a time of 11.87. 

Bo Webb clawed his way into the Top 10 in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in eighth place with a time of 14.76 to secure the eighth-best time in Jaguar record books. Jordan Morrison blazed to a :20.57 to take fifth place in the Men's 600 meters.

South Alabama will head back east to compete in the Raleigh Relays on hosted by NC State on March 28-30.
