MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Track and Field wrapped up a stellar second day at the South Alabama Invitational Saturday afternoon, picking up 13 event wins and logged nearly seven personal records.
In the Field
Bodine Degli-Umberti had a dominant opening to her outdoor season. Degli-Umberti started the day by winning the shot put with a toss of 14.00 meters (45 11 ¼") before picking up another event win in the discus with a hurl of 49.02 meters (160' 10"). She also logged a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a throw of 55.28 meters (181' 4").
The Jaguars turned in a strong outing in the Javelin. Reuben Booysen launched a throw of 65.70 meters to win the men's competition. Jake Wentz finished in second in his outdoor debut with a throw of 59.28 meters. On the women's side, Ava Grace Wheaton crushed her personal best in the Javelin with a throw of 46.23 meters.
Alexis Gratia recorded the fourth first-place finish of her career in the pole vault with a 3.90-meter clearance.
Mia Evensen picked up two impressive finishes in the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. Evensen blazed to a time of 14.66 in the hurdles to secure third place in the competition before leaping to a mark of 5.62 meters (18'5 ¼") to earn her first event win of the season.
Caleb Mabins controlled the pit throughout the afternoon for the Jaguars. Mabins took second in the triple jump with a 14.79-meter jump (48'6 ¼") and followed up that performance with a third-place finish in the long jump, leaping to 7.17 meters (23'6 ¼")
Kyle Rademeyer continued his superior ways in the pole vault, winning the competition with a clearance of 5.45 meters.
Francois Prinsloo and Sebastian Loschner grabbed the top two spots in the men's discus. Prinsloo breezed through the competition to take first place with a throw of 61.19 meters, while Loschner finished close behind in second with a throw of 56.64 meters.
On the Track
Charleen Elizondo led the way on the Track for the Jaguars. Elizondo had a strong kick down the final straight away to win the women's 3000 meters with a time of 10:22.59. Clervie Chagot turned on the burners to take third place with a 10:26.80.
Kendal White fueled the South Alabama sprinters with two stellar finishes in the 400-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles. White posted a time of 52.30 to win the 400-meter hurdles before he blistered to a 14.46 in the 110-meter hurdles.
In the women's 200 meters, Tia Acker blazed to a time of 24.27 to secure the first outdoor event win of her career. She now holds the eighth-highest time in the South Alabama record books.
South Alabama earned first and second place in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Grace Wolf bolted to a time of 1:01.44 to grab the event win, and Rachel Hunter secured a silver medal with a time of 1:02.55.
Juan Hill dashed to a second-place finish in the 100 meters, clocking a time of 10.89.
