Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -Â South Alabama leaves eight unanswered runs in the Sun Belt Conference opener after a four hour rain delay to lose, 8-3.
South scored first with a three-run home run to left field by
Ethan Melton, but a rain delay halted the game in the top of the fifth inning.
Play picked back up at 8 p.m. with Georgia State scoring five runs to take the lead. The Panthers added another three runs in the sixth for insurance. Barring two walks, the Jags were unable to reach base the rest of the game.

Losing Pitcher:Â Logan Wash (1-1)

The Jags continue their opening weekend of conference play against Georgia State with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.
