NEW ORLEANS – Senior running back La'Damian Webb and senior safety Yam Banks highlighted a list of nine all-conference selections Monday as the duo earned first team honors on the Sun Belt Conference's preseason all-league awards. Joining Webb and Banks were Carter Bradley, Devin Voisin, Caullin Lacy, Wy'Kevious Thomas, Jaden Voisin, Keith Gallmon Jr., and Diego Guajardo who were each named second-team all-conference.

The nine selections for the Jaguars were the most of any team in the league.

Coming off a 10-3 record a year ago, which included a 6-1 mark in league play, the Jaguars were also selected to finish second in the West Division by the league coaches.

Webb, a two-time Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week honoree in 2022, finished 1,067 yards on 210 carries, becoming the second player in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season despite missing two games, and was named honorable mention CFN All-America, while also garnering first-team all-SBC honors. He rushed for over 100 yards three different times during the 2022 season, including 124 yards at the Rose Bowl against UCLA, while also rushing for 152 yards and three touchdowns on the road against Arkansas State and another 247 yards and four touchdowns (both school records) on the road at Georgia Southern. Webb ranked in the top 50 in seven different categories nationally, including 13th in rushing touchdowns and 10th in total touchdowns. The Opelika, Ala., native also recorded 17 receptions for 184 yards out of the backfield with a touchdown.

Banks, who was named First-Team All-Sun Belt as a defensive back at the end of last season, was also an honorable mention All-America selection by Phil Steele, second team by PFF and third team by CFN. Banks finished the season with a team-high six interceptions, including one against Western Kentucky at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl to conclude the season. He was credited with 50 total tackles, including 35 solo stops, with six tackles for loss and one sack. Banks finished the year with 11 pass breakups, five quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery.

Bradley, one of seven Jags to earn second-team honors, set school records in passing yards (3,326), completions (276) and touchdowns (28) in his first year at South Alabama. He ranked in the top 50 nationally in 11 different categories, including 22nd in passing touchdowns and 25th in passing yards in 2022 and passed for three or more touchdowns in a game seven different times during the season, including four against Texas State. Bradley also passed for 250 or more yards seven different times on the season, including 300 or more three times. He three for 377 yards against Western Kentucky in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, for 354 yards and three touchdowns on the road against Central Michigan before setting a school record with 420 yards and three touchdowns against ULM.

D. Voisin emerged as one of the top offensive threats in the Sun Belt during the 2022 season as he finished with 64 receptions for 867 yards and five touchdowns. The redshirt-junior was named honorable mention all-Sun Belt by the league coaches and media and also earned all-conference honors from Phil Steele. The Crestview, Fla., native recorded six or more receptions four times, and finished with a season-high 11 receptions for 153 yards against Western Kentucky at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Like D. Voisin, Lacy emerged as one of the top offensive threats in the league in 2022. The Mobile, native was a highly versatile player for the Jags as he was used as a receiver and primary punt returner. He recorded 21 returns for 189 yards, averaging 9.00 yards per return and scored a touchdown, and as a receiver, he finished with a team-high 65 receptions for 816 yards, with six touchdowns. Lacy recorded a career-high and school record 12 receptions for 133 yards against ULM.

Thomas received all-conference honors last season from Phil Steele after starting all 13 games for South at the defensive tackle position. He recorded 35 tackles, including 15 solo stops, and also tacked on five tackles for loss and three sacks, while forcing a fumble. He finished with a season-high five tackles against UCLA.

Gallmon returns to the Jaguar lineup this season after missing the 2022 campaign after suffering an injury during the preseason a year ago. Gallmon was named second-team all-Sun Belt Conference in 2021 and chosen second-team all-league by Phil Steele Publications and Pro Football Network as well. He was a starter in all 12 outings, posting 59 stops — including 2½ behind the line of scrimmage — two pass break ups, an interception and a fumble recovery. Gallmon finished second on the team in total tackles after leading the Jaguars in the category in four games, which was tied for most on the squad.

In his first season as a starter, J. Voisin was named honorable mention all-Sun Belt and all-conference by Phil Steele last season. The redshirt-junior safety finished with 80 total tackles – 44 solo stops – including six tackles for loss, while also forcing a fumble, recovering a one fumble, and intercepting a pair of passes. The Crestview, Fla., native was also credited with three quarterback hurries and five pass breakups in 2022. Against USM, he recorded a season-high 17 tackles, earning SBC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Guajardo earned all-conference from Phil Steele a year ago and was a Lou Groza semifinalist. Guajardo was perfect on the year in field goals through the first nine games. The Daphne, Ala., native ranked nationally in four different categories, including sixth in field goal percentage (.947), which was also tied for third-highest, single-season percentage in Sun Belt history. Guajardo also ranked 29th in field goals per game and was in the top 50 in scoring and total points scored and had six games of two or more field goals, including five in conference play. He finished the year 18-for-19 in field goals, including 5-for-5 from 40-49 yards and connected on 46-of-48 extra point attempts.
