AUSTIN, Texas | South Alabama junior pole vaulter
Kyle Rademeyer claimed the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on the first night of competition on Wednesday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Rademeyer cleared his only attempt at 5.70 meters (18-08.25) to win the event, while also clearing two other heights. The junior was able to celebrate on his last jump already having won the title, attempting to clear 5.85 meters.
Meanwhile,
Kirami Yego finished 11th in the 10,000-meters late Wednesday night with a time of 28:57.61, finishing behind Cormac Dalton of Tulsa at 28:35.83. He finished just 30 seconds outside of the top eight (Patrick Kiprop of Arkansas).
With the finish by Rademeyer, the Jags end day one of the event in seventh place overall in the championships with 10 points.
