Initial South Alabama matchups announced for 2023-24 MAC-SBC Challenge

NEW ORLEANS – The MAC-SBC Challenge—a scheduling alliance in the sports of men's and women's basketball—will kick off during the opening week of the 2023-24 season, with South Alabama women's basketball hosting Central Michigan on Nov. 9 and South Alabama men's basketball traveling to Buffalo on Nov. 11.
 
The initial matchups are based on projected NET rankings going into the 2023-24 season.
 
The second game of the MAC-SBC Challenge will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10 and matchups will be announced in January and will be decided based on NET rankings at the time. The MAC women and Sun Belt men will host the February matchups.
 
South Alabama women's basketball first-year head coach Yolisha Jackson and the Jags will take on a Central Michigan squad that finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 6-23 record, going 4-10 in MAC games.
 
Head coach Richie Riley and the Jaguar men's basketball squad will travel to Buffalo, where they will face the Bulls, who were 15-17 a year ago, going 9-9 in conference action.
 
Each MAC-SBC Challenge game will be carried on an ESPN platform.
