HATTIESBURG, Miss. – South Alabama women's basketball (7-3) will open Sun Belt play against Southern Miss (7-4) at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Miss.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jaguars are 14-26 against the Lady Eagles, their last meeting a 66-57 victory on Feb. 19, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Miss.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- South Alabama travels to Hattiesburg after a 70-58 victory over North Alabama on Sunday.
- Cordasia Harris displayed an impressive performance on Sunday, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds. Harris also reached 1,000 career points early in the contest.
- South Alabama is averaging 75.1 points per game and a +11.2 margin of victory. The former is the highest in 35 years, and the latter is the highest in seven.
- Multiple Jaguars continue to achieve national success. Daniela Gonzalez ranks in the top five in three-point percentage for the third consecutive week, and Cordasia Harris ranks in the top-30 in offensive rebounds per game (4.0), blocks per game (2.10) and total blocks (21).
SCOUTING THE LADY EAGLES:
- Southern Miss returns to Reed Green after an 87-64 loss to Mississippi State on Sunday. Before their non-conference finale, the Lady Eagles defeated UAB in a road contest on 12/7.
- The Lady Eagles rank 23rd in the nation in turnovers per game, averaging 13.0.
- Carly Keats, a senior point guard, has notched impressive numbers beyond the arc, ranking in the top-25 nationally in three-pointers, three-pointers per game and three-point attempts.
