MOBILE, Ala. – The South Alabama duo of Louis Delcour and Jack Clements fell 2-6, 5-7 to the duo of Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Joseph Wayand from NC State Wednesday afternoon in the round of 32 at the NCAA Doubles Championship.
 
The doubles pair finished 2-2 in dual match play and were 10-3 overall in the 2022-23 season and were ranked No. 61 in the May 4 ITA rankings, the highest in the conference.
 
Delcour, a senior from Lille, France, finishes his South Alabama career with two Sun Belt Conference Championships (2019 and 2021) and a career singles 81-38 singles record and a 64-48 doubles record. Declour graduated from South Alabama in May with a degree in finance.
 
Clements, a sophomore, has a 32-26 singles record and a 40-24 doubles record over two years.
 
The duo have an overall 26-11 record together over two years of being partners.

"Great match, we really felt like we could win this one, so it's definitely disappointing but at the same time, this is the NCAAs, the best of the best, so just to qualify is a huge accomplishment. I am so proud of those guys, and I think they are proud of themselves. We have NC State a great battle. We had a slow start and we lost too many deuce points. The first set got broken on deuce points. I think they were a little sharper in the first set but in the second set, we were right there. It was five all, we, unfortunately, got a bad call by the referee at deuce which made it 6-5 them. It's a great experience and I am so happy Louis got to experience this because he's had a tremendous career at South Alabama, and he fully deserves to come to NCAAs. This is his senior year and Louis is a perfect player what you're looking for at South Alabama. That was amazing. Very proud of him and Jack, I know he's going to want to come back to this next year. Extremely pleased and proud of those guys."
