JONESBORO, Ark. | South Alabama looks to get back on track in its final Sun Belt Conference series of the year on the road against Arkansas State beginning on Thursday night.
South Alabama (23-28, 11-16 SBC) currently sits in 11th place in the conference standings and needs a sweep coupled with a sweep by Old Dominion this week. The Jags are one game back of three teams including Georgia State who is the only team South Alabama can pass this week for a berth in the tournament.
Will Turner leads South Alabama at the plate, hitting .365 on the season with an OPS of 1.103. He has collected 73 hits (second in the conference) with 30 of those being for extra bases including nine home runs, while also scoring 50 runs and driving in another 50.
Joseph Sullivan is hitting .300 with a team-leading 13 home runs and has knocked in 41 RBI to go along with 19 stolen bases), while
Erick Orbeta is hitting .310 on the season with 12 doubles from the leadoff spot.
