MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama will host Alabama State on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 5 pm to resume the game played in Montgomery, followed by the regularly scheduled game at 6:30 pm.
South Alabama (17-18) and Alabama State (24-12) faced each other last Tuesday in Montgomery before the game was suspended due to darkness with the Jags trailing 5-3 in the top of the eighth with a pair of runners on and one out in the inning. Anyone purchasing a ticket to the 6:30 pm game will be admitted into the conclusion of the first contest.
The two will then meet at 6:30 pm in the regularly scheduled game on ESPN+.
South Alabama enters the first of an eight-game home stand off a Sun Belt Conference series win over ULM – its third consecutive conference series win. The Jags have also won seven of their last 11 games, including back-to-back wins in Monroe.
Will Turner leads South Alabama at the plate, hitting .375 with a 1.184 OPS. He has collected 23 extra-base hits including 11 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs while also driving in 43 runs on the year. The sophomore has also scored 38 runs and has a .699 slugging percentage.
Erick Orbeta is hitting .327 on the season with 12 doubles and 33 runs scored, while
Joseph Sullivan enters the week at .321 with nine home runs and 12 stolen bases.
Colson Lawrence is tied with Turner and Sullivan for the team lead in home runs with nine.
On the mound, Lawrence (1-0, 2.70 ERA) recorded his first win of the season last week.
Leif Moore (1-0, 3.12 ERA),
Danny Diaz (1-1, 3.38 ERA),
Jacob Bruning (0-0, 3.86 ERA), and
Matthew DeLano (2-0, 3.90 ERA) have all posted sub-4.00 ERAs this season.
Grant Wood (4-2, 5.76 ERA) leads the team with 15 appearances and four saves.
