MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's tennis closes out the regular season with a trip east, traveling to Coastal Carolina for a match Saturday at 10 a.m. and to nonconference opponent UNC Wilmington Sunday at 11 a.m.
South Alabama (13-7) hosted two conference opponents over the weekend, beating Georgia Southern 6-1 on Sunday and beating 5-2 Georgia State on Monday.
In the latest ITA rankings, South Alabama stayed where they were last week, coming in at no. 74.
In Sunday's win over the Eagles, the Jags took the doubles point after wins from the duos of
Louis Delcour/
Jack Clements and
Juan Accossatto/Maxime St. Hilaire. In singles, South claimed wins on five of six courts to get the 6-1 win.
In Monday's match with Georgia State, South claimed the doubles point after wins from the same duos and got four wins in singles from
Sebastien Collard,
Maxime St-Hilaire,
Louis Delcour and
Jack Clements.
The doubles duo of Clements and Delcour reunited over the weekend after weeks off, and are now ranked No. 55 in the latest ITA rankings.
Collard is now 13-6 on the year and is riding a seven-match win streak. He is 7-0 in conference matches this season, all from the number one spot, and is the only undefeated No. 1 in conference play this season. He posted a 2-0 weekend in singles, earning him his second Sun Belt Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor this season.
Senior
Martin Bugaj is 12-4 on the year, while sophomore
Maxime St-Hilaire leads the team with 15 wins on the season while losing five.
Coastal Carolina is 10-10 on the season and are on the five match losing streak, dropping matches last weekend to James Madison and No. 68 Old Dominion.
UNC Wilmington is 12-6 on the year, posting just a 2-0 record in their conference.
The Jags are 3-0 against Coastal Carolina, getting a 4-2 win over the Chanticleers last season. South is 1-2 against UNC Wilmington, beating them 4-3 last year.
