MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama heads to Montgomery for the second time this season, this time to face Alabama State on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
South Alabama (15-17) winners of four of its last five games, and six of its last eight, enter the non-conference game off a 5-4 walk-off victory over Texas State on Friday. The win gave the Jags their second consecutive Sun Belt Conference series win of the season. The game against Alabama State marks the third game, and second opponent from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) that South Alabama will face having beat Southern twice this season.
The two teams last played April 12, 2022, in Montgomery with Alabama State (21-12) winning 7-4 at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Will Turner leads South Alabama at the plate, hitting .384 with a 1.199 OPS. He has collected 22 extra-base hits including 11 doubles, three triples and eight home runs while also driving in 40 runs on the year. The sophomore has also scored 33 runs and has a .712 slugging percentage.
Erick Orbeta is hitting .377 on the season with 10 doubles and 31 runs scored, while
Joseph Sullivan enters the week at .313 with seven home runs.

Colson Lawrence (1-0, 2.70 ERA) recorded his first win of the season on Friday, while
Sam Knowlton (2-1, 2.93 ERA) leads the weekend rotation.,
Grant Wood (4-2, 5.32 ERA) leads the team with 14 appearances and three saves.
