 All-Time Series
South Alabama owns a 27-24 all-time lead over Tulane in a series that dates back to 1966. The schools split a pair of games last season with the Jaguars defeating the Green Wave 8-1 on April 26 at Stanky Field, and Tulane defeating South Alabama 11-7 on May 10, which marked the last meeting in the series. USA is 1-2 all-time against Tulane under Head Coach Mark Calvi.

HITTING STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Center fielder Will Turner carries an 11-game on-base streak into the game, dating back to last year, after reaching safely in the final three games of the 2022 season and in all eight games this season. First baseman Tyler Borges and shortstop JG Bell each carry a six-game on-base streak into the contest. Bell also owns the team's longest current hit streak at six games.

JAGS IN TOP 25 NATIONALLY IN 2 CATEGORIES
South Alabama ranks 19th nationally in hit by pitches (16), and 21st in sacrifice bunts (5).

BAGS FULL OF JAGS
USA is hitting .412 (7-for-17) with the bases loaded this season. Cole Ketzner is batting .600 (3-for-5) with the bags full of Jags, and Will Turner is hitting 1.000 (2-for-2).

HIT TO WIN
The Jaguars are 4-0 this season when out-hitting the opposition, but 0-4 when getting out-hit.

LEADING AFTER 7 FRAMES
USA is 4-0 this year when leading after seven innings, but 0-4 when trailing after seven frames.

SQUARING OFF WITH IZZY
Former Jaguar right-handed pitcher Anthony Izzio (2012-13) is in his first season as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Tulane. Izzio finished his Jaguar career with an 8-1 record in 20 appearances, 13 of which were starts, and posted a 3.41 ERA in 89 2/3 innings pitched with 67 strikeouts against 23 walks, and helped South Alabama capture the 2013 Sun Belt Conference championship and advance to the NCAA Starkville (Miss.) Regional. Izzio was a member of the Tulane staff for the 2020 season as well, and was responsible for day-to-day operations for the outfielders in addition handling batting practice responsibilities.

WILLINGHAM RANKED IN TOP 5 NATIONALLY IN WINS
Left-handed reliever Zach Willingham enters the week ranked tied for fifth nationally in wins with two, which is tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead. Willingham has allowed two hits in 3 2/3 scoreless innings pitched this season, and struck out four against two walks in two appearances.

JAGUAR DEFENSE
South Alabama has committed at least one error in seven of its eight games this season, including a season-high five errors in last Saturday's 15-3 loss to Nebraska at Stanky Field. The Jags rank 13th out of 14 teams in the Sun Belt Conference in fielding percentage, and 238th nationally.

SOUTH ALABAMA IN NEBRASKA SERIES
The Jaguars hit .196 (19-for-97) in their three-game series with Nebraska last weekend at Stanky Field, and posted a 7.33 team ERA in 27 innings. Will Turner led the team with a .364 batting average (4-for-11) in the series, including two doubles, one triple, two RBIs and one stolen base. 

JAGS SET PROGRAM RECORD FOR WALKS
South Alabama drew 20 walks in a 26-6 win over Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 18, which set a new program record. The previous record for walks in a game came on April 8, 1979, when the Jags drew 18 walks against Alabama.

WOOD RANKED IN TOP 10 NATIONALLY IN SAVES
Right-handed pitcher Grant Wood recorded two saves in two appearances on the opening weekend of the season, which ranks seventh nationally and tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead. He struck out two in one scoreless inning against Northwestern State in the season opener for his first save of the year, followed by a six-out save in a Feb. 19 win over UAB with a career-high four strikeouts in two innings pitched.
