NEW ORLEANS – After guiding South Alabama football to a 38-24 non-conference road victory over Central Michigan on Saturday, quarterback
Carter Bradley was one of eight quarterbacks named to the Manning Award "Stars of the Week" Monday.
Along with Bradley, Malick Cunningham (Louisville), Jalon Daniels (Kansas), Frank Harris (UTSA), Sam Hartman (Wake Forest), Will Rogers (Mississippi State), Kyle Vantrease (Georgia Southern) and Caleb Williams (USC) were also named to the list.
As a result, Jaguar fans will now have the opportunity to go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. Voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. (CT) and where the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

In the 14-point victory over the Chippawas, Bradley connected on 26 of his 41 attempts and three scores, while finishing the day with a 90.7 QBR. Of South's 502 yards of total offense, 354 came through the air. The 354 passing yards recorded by Bradley tied for fourth most (
Jake Bentley, vs. Georgia Southern, 10/14/21) in a single game. Bradley threw for 249 yards during the first 30-minutes of action, which were 11 yards shy of his total (260) in the season opener against Nicholls, to send the Jags into the locker room with a 31-10 halftime advantage.
THE MANNING AWARD
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 464 different quarterbacks from 129 schools have been recognized. Sixty-seven players from 66 different schools were honored during the 2021 season.
