With just two weeks left in the regular season, South Alabama will venture west just about three hours to face new Sun Belt Conference foe Southern Miss on November 19.
 
The Golden Eagles were picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt East Division under second-year head coach Will Hall heading into 2022. They return eight all-conference picks from a season ago and had one player named to preseason Sun Belt Conference team, while having three student-athletes named to a preseason watch list.
 
Southern Miss has been to bowl games in four of the last seven seasons, with their last trip coming in 2019. They will look to preseason selection Camron Harrell (return specialist) to help lead the way with their transition into the Sun Belt.
 
They open the season September 3 against Liberty before non-conference games against Miami (Sept. 10), Northwestern State (Sept. 17), and Tulane (Sept. 24) before conference play begins.
