2022 SBC Championship Tournament Central
NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama baseball team will compete in the 2022 Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Baseball Championship presented by Troy University as the No. 5 seed, and will open the tournament against No. 4 seed Louisiana on Wed., May 25, at 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala.
Every game of the tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN+, and every Jaguar game will be broadcast live on Sports Talk 99.5 FM in Mobile, in addition to the iHeart radio app, with JT Crabtree on the call.
USA (31-22, 17-13 SBC) sits on the same side of the double-elimination bracket as Louisiana, No. 1 seed Texas State and the lowest-seeded winner of the play-in games between No. 10 ULM and No. 7 Georgia State and No. 9 Appalachian State and No. 8 Little Rock. The winner-take-all championship game is scheduled for Sun., May 29, at 1 p.m.
The Jaguars closed the regular season ranked second in the league in fielding percentage (.975) and triples (16), tied for second in batting average (.294), and third in walks (260) and on-base percentage (.399). South Alabama also ended the regular season with the most shutouts (4) in the league, ranked second in the conference in fewest hits allowed (437), and third in opponent batting average (.249) and ERA (4.65).
USA won the 2021 SBC Championship with a 10-4 win over Georgia Southern in the tournament final.
