This weekend marks the first-ever meeting between South Alabama and Rhode Island.

EARLY HIT STREAKS
Designated hitter Charles Middleton and right fielder Miles Simington each carry a four-game hit streak into the weekend. Simington has recorded multiple hits in three of four games this season, while Middleton has posted two multi-hit performances. First baseman Hunter Stokes carries a three-game hit streak into the weekend. 

JAGS ERRORLESS AT USM
South Alabama posted its first errorless game of the season in Tuesday's win at Southern Miss. The Jags committed five errors in their first three games of the year before carding their first clean defensive game of the season at USM.

TWO-OUT HITS
USA is batting .304 (17-for-56) with two outs this season entering Friday's series opener. Landon Jordan (2-for-4), Miles Simington (4-for-8) and Hunter Stokes (2-for-4) each share the team lead with a .400 batting average with two outs. 

BOSWELL'S FIRST START    
Right-hander Matt Boswell struck out nine without issuing a walk, and allowed two runs on two hits in five innings pitched in his first start of the season against Oral Roberts last weekend.

JAGUAR BULLPEN
The South Alabama bullpen enters the weekend with a 2.39 ERA, two wins and two saves, along with 25 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings pitched entering this weekend's series.

136 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 136 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019. 

JAG PITCHING STRIKEOUTS AT HOME
The Jaguar pitching staff is averaging 11.67 strikeouts per game through three home games, including a season-high 13 strikeouts against Oral Roberts last Saturday.

STOKES RECORDS CAREER HIGH IN HITS
First baseman Hunter Stokes recorded a career-high four hits in last Sunday's loss to Tennessee Tech, finishing 4-for-5 with a double and one run scored. 

SBC PRESEASON PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Jaguar right-hander Miles Smith was named the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year, as well as preseason all-SBC and a preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball. 

MONTIEL NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Montiel was recently named to the 2022 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list. The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity. The winner of the BBCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.

JAGS PICKED TO WIN SUN BELT CONFERENCE
The Jaguars were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference regular season title in a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches. USA received seven of 12 first-place votes in the poll.

RETURNING ALL-SBC, FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA PERFORMERS
South Alabama right-handers JoJo Booker and Jeremy Lee return for 2022 after earning all-Sun Belt Conference honors last season. Lee was also a 2021 Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. 

RUNNERS STRANDED
South Alabama has stranded 44 runners through four games this season, including a season-high 13 left on base in Tuesday's 13-inning win at Southern Miss.
