South Alabama's season opener with Radford marks the first-ever meeting between the schools. The Jaguars are 5-4 all-time against Oral Roberts, and 8-3 all-time against Tennessee Tech. 

SBC PRESEASON PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Jaguar right-hander Miles Smith was named the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year, as well as preseason all-SBC and a preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball. 

132 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 132 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019. 

MONTIEL NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Montiel was recently named to the 2022 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list. The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity. The winner of the BBCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.

JAGS PICKED TO WIN SUN BELT CONFERENCE
The Jaguars were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference regular season title in a presesaon poll voted on by the league's head coaches. USA received seven of 12 first-place votes in the poll.

RETURNING ALL-SBC, FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA PERFORMERS
South Alabama right-handers JoJo Booker and Jeremy Lee return for 2022 after earning all-Sun Belt Conference honors last season. Lee was also a 2021 Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. 

BOSWELL, BOOKER LEAD SBC IN 2021        
Right-handers Matt Boswell and JoJo Booker finished the 2021 season tied for the league lead in starts with 16. Booker also ranked second in the conference in wins with eight.
