NEW ORLEANS – After splitting a pair of games against Troy, senior guard Jay Jay Chandler was named the Sun Belt's Player of the Week on Tuesday announced by the league office.
 
Chandler averaged 23 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in two games. Chandler posted a career-high 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including a perfect 7-for-7 for the free throw line in an 82-63 win over Troy on Thursday. Chandler went 16-of-18 (88.8 percent) from the charity stripe in the two games against the Trojans.
 
The Katy, Texas native surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his NCAA career in the home victory over Troy. Chandler has scored at least 20 points in eight games and 10 or more in 19 straight contests.
 
Chandler joins teammate Charles Manning Jr. to win the weekly award for the Jaguars this season.
