MOBILE, Ala. – Standout runner for the South Alabama track & field team Kirami Yego will compete at the Sharon Colyear Invitational hosted by Boston University in Boston, Mass. Saturday evening.

Yego will run in the 5000m event in a field of 227 athletes.

Kirami Yego holds the second-fastest time in school history in the indoor 5000m event. His time last year of 14:05.26 trails only David Kimani's 13:42.23, which he ran in 2000.

More recently, Yego is coming off a cross country season in which he received All-America honors after finishing 37
th in the NCAA Cross Country Championship.

- This is the first event of the indoor season for South Alabama Track & Field.
- Yego won the 5000m Sun Belt Championship last year and was a first-team all-conference member.
- He was also the conference champion in the 3000m event last indoor season.
- Last year, Yego was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Indoor Track Performer of the Year.
- He improved on his 2021 season-best 8k cross country time by 47 seconds this season.
