MOBILE, Ala. – Due to the rapidly escalating COVID-19 infections in Mobile County and surrounding areas, the University of South Alabama is requiring that masks be worn indoors by all students, faculty and staff including at upcoming men's and women's basketball games at the Mitchell Center.
Fans in attendance will be required to supply and wear masks to gain entry into the arena as well as when they are not able to socially distance from other individuals, and pregame and halftime access to the John Counts Room will not be available. People who would like to disperse and practice social distancing will be able to move to seats in the upper level if desired.
A limited number of masks will be available upon entry at the Mitchell Center if needed.
The University will continuously review its policies and adjust according to the latest information received from the CDC, state and local health officials, and USA Health's medical experts.
South's men's team is scheduled to play host to Appalachian State Thursday at 7 p.m. (CST) and Coastal Carolina at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with the women's next home game against Louisiana slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15.
