MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama's Jalen Tolbert added to his summer honors Tuesday with the release of Athlon Sports' preseason All-America teams.

The publication included the junior wide receiver on its preseason fourth-team All-America squad, making it the fourth such honor he has received prior to the start of the 2021 campaign.  Tolbert was named preseason first-team All-America by Pro Football Network on Monday, and has also garnered fourth-team honors from Phil Steele Publications and honorable mention accolades from Pro Football Focus leading into the beginning of camp.

He has also been selected preseason first-team all-Sun Belt Conference by Pro Football Focus, Phil Steele Publications, Athlon Sports and Lindy's as well.

Tolbert earned first-team all-league honors from the Sun Belt's head coaches and media, Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele Publications last fall after posting 64 receptions for 1,085 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, breaking school records in the first two categories while tying the previous mark in the latter.  He ranked second in the conference in receptions and receiving yards per game — ending up among the top 40 nationally in both statistics — after concluding the year as one of two 1,000-yard receivers in the SBC and one of 11 in the country.

The Mobile, Ala., resident was chosen the league's Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions in 2020, first after recording 169 yards and two scores on six catches in a season-opening victory at Southern Miss and then following a Thanksgiving weekend win at Arkansas State in which he hauled in 10 passes for a school game-record 252 yards and three touchdowns.  In all, Tolbert paced the Jaguars in catches seven times and in receiving yards on seven occasions as well as with 20 plays — including six that resulted in scores — of 20-plus yards
