MOBILE, Ala. – Phil Steele Publications has named Jalen Tolbert to its preseason All-America teams, and the junior wide receiver is one of 10 individuals from the University of South Alabama football program to receive preseason all-Sun Belt Conference from the organization as well.

The Mobile, Ala., native earned fourth-team preseason All-America honors after being voted first-team all-Sun Belt last fall as he finished the year with 64 receptions, 1,085 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches, making him one of two 1,000-yard receivers in the league and one of 11 in the country.  In addition to setting school records for catches and yards and matching another for touchdown receptions in a season, Tolbert ended up second in the SBC in receptions and receiving yards per contest while standing seventh in all-purpose yards per outing.

He set a school game record with 252 yards on a career-best 10 catches with three of those going for touchdowns in a November victory at Arkansas State — earning SBC Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors from both the conference and College Sports Madness for the performance — while also being selected the league's offensive and Maxwell Award Player of the Week following the Jaguars' season-opening win at Southern Miss in which Tolbert posted six receptions for 169 yards and two scores.

In addition to having Tolbert garner preseason first-team all-Sun Belt recognition, the trio of Keith Gallmon, Diego Guajardo and Devin Rockette have been named preseason third-team all-conference by the publication.  Receiving fourth-team preseason all-league honors from the organization are Jake Bentley, Travis Drosos, A.J. DeShazor Jr., Gi'Narious Johnson, Hadon Merchant and Quentin Wilfawn.
