NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama baseball right-hander JoJo Booker was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Booker tossed his first career complete game in last Saturday's win at Appalachian State, which clinched the Sun Belt Conference East Division title. The Brewton, Ala., native allowed three runs on four hits with nine strikeouts without issuing a walk in seven innings to record his seventh win of the season.
It marked the first complete game by a Jaguar since Matt Boswell on Feb. 26, 2020, against New Orleans, and the first seven-inning complete game since Patrick McBride on April 23, 2019, at Alabama State. Booker ended the regular season 7-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 73 strikeouts to 35 walks in 74 2/3 innings pitched this season, and has earned wins in his last three starts. He is the first Jaguar to earn SBC weekly honors this season.
