Date: 4/12
Time: 4:15-5:30 p.m. (CDT)
Place: Jaguar Training Center
Practice attire: Helmets and shorts, no pads
Featured Offensive Player of the Day: Jake Bentley, Sr., QB, Lexington, S.C.
-Offensive coordinator Major Applewhite on Bentley: "Jake has been a great addition to our roster, it's great for him to be able to come back and finish his career here after starting off playing high school ball in Alabama. He's been a sponge — as soon as I got here from Miami following the national championship game he was in my office wanting the playbook — and is trying to soak up everything. He's done a good job getting with his teammates and helping to establish some leadership roles and relationships on the team. He still has a ways to go, but I've been pleased with how he has come in and learned the offense and is prepared and ready to go every day."
Featured Defensive Player of the Day: Charles Coleman III, So., DL, Huntsville, Ala.
-Defensive coordinator Corey Batoon on Coleman III: "Charles is a dual-role guy for us, he's played defensive end and we've moved him in to play some tackle. He is a very good match-up for us from a pass rush perspective from the inside, but he's athletic enough to play on the edge. He's gotten bigger — he's now 275 pounds-plus — and to be able to move the way he does has been really big for us. As he continues to learn the system under [assistant] coach [Landius] Wilkerson I think he's going to be a really good player for us in the fall."
Play of the Day: On the very first call of the opening team period, it appeared the Jaguar wide receiver had space to for a big gain but Dewayne Betts Jr. beat a pair of blockers to make the stop behind the line of scrimmage.
Team period highlights: The first of two team periods included perimeter and run-pass option calls, while the second focused on the two-minute drill in the red zone.

THEY SAID IT
Head coach Kane Wommack
-On Monday's practice: "Today was a great day to be able to clean up what we did well in the scrimmage and the things we need to improve upon, you get to emphasize all your drill work. To be able to take the pads off and just go in helmets lets us film drill work and sets us up for what we'll be doing in the summer. We were able to focus in on a few key things where we wanted to slow down and teach — we had really good individual and teaching periods — and we got in some situational work that we needed that you wouldn't want to utilize a full period on in a normal practice. This was really good, and it sets the tone for what we need to do over these next three practices."
-On what he was pleased with after watching film of Saturday's scrimmage: "I was really pleased with the effort and the pursuit of our defense, the SwarmD got to the ball; we were aggressive, up front we were straining with the offensive line. The guys did a good job of just giving great effort and urgency across the board, there was much improvement from the first scrimmage to the second scrimmage in that regard. The windows were tighter, they were tighter in coverage and in run fits, our guys on the offensive line were taking better angles and leverages in our blocking schemes and the backs did a better job of protecting on third downs. The understanding of knowing where to go and how important it is to take the right steps, to constrict windows defensively and be very intentional about our leverages offensively are all things that are improving day to day."
