MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team has a busy weekend ahead, as they return home for three matches in two days. The Jags will open up with Xavier (La.) on Friday at 2 p.m., and then face UAB at 10 a.m., and Florida A&M at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

-  South Alabama leads the all-time series between all three opponents, 2-0 against Xavier (La.), 25-11 against UAB and 10-1 against Florida A&M.
-  South Alabama defeated Xavier (La.), in their last meeting in 2019, 7-0.
-  Last season, South Alabama also picked up a 4-2 win over UAB.
-  In their last meeting, in 2017, South Alabama won 5-0 over Florida A&M.
-  The Jaguars are coming into this weekend's matches unbeaten at home as they are 2-0 at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
-  South Alabama is 2-5 on the season while Xavier is 2-0 and UAB is 0-4. Florida A&M is 0-9 going into their match against Troy Friday before facing the Jaguars.

-  Following this weekend's action, South Alabama will break for nearly a month before returning to the road. South will begin the road swing in Orlando, Fla. against UCF on March 11 at 5 p.m., and then continue to compete in Florida, taking on South Florida on March 13 at 2 p.m. and North Florida March 14 at 2 p.m. in Tampa, Fla.

THEY SAID IT
Head coach Nick Brochu
- On returning home: "It will be great to play at home this weekend. We have three matches at home that will give our freshmen plenty of opportunities to play a lot of matches. I feel that's what's been lacking for our guys; the more they play the better they seem to get. We definitely need to use this weekend to our advantage."
- On doubles play: "We definitely need to play better in doubles. That's been one area that has been lacking this spring. We also need to be more aggressive and a little more clutch during the doubles period. In tight matches, the doubles point is very crucial.
- On the competition this weekend: "We're playing one of our in-state rivals in UAB. They are always very pumped to play us, so we will have to get ready for that challenge. They have a young team similar to ours. Last year, we started out very well against them, but I felt we kind of took our foot off the gas and UAB took advantage of that, making a good comeback, which made the match close at the end. We need to make sure that we start strong, stay strong and finish strong. We need to play all three matches this weekend as if we were playing top teams like South Florida and UCF, who we will see soon."
