JAGUARS’ MINTER EARNS INVITATION TO NFLPA COLLEGIATE BOWL

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama running back Tra Minter announced on Monday that he has accepted an invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in January.

The game will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at the Rose Bowl and is set to kick off at 6 p.m. (CST) on the NFL Network.  Leading the two teams in the contest will be former National Football League head coaches Hue Jackson and Marvin Lewis.

With two games left in his senior season, Minter has rushed for 881 yards and four scores on 154 carries while catching 27 passes for 193 yards.  The Jaguars' primary return specialist, he has also run back 26 kickoffs for 512 yards giving the running back 1,604 all-purpose yards on the year.  He currently stands second on the school's season record list for all-purpose yards and is third in rushing.

Not only does Minter lead the Sun Belt Conference in all-purpose yards per game — ranking fifth nationally in the category — but he is fifth in the league in rushing yards per contest and stands third with an average of 19.69 yards per kick return.

In nearly three full seasons at South, Minter has accumulated 2,023 yards rushing, 1,310 yards on kickoff returns and 4,083 all-purpose yards to rank among the top three in all three statistics in USA's career record book.

He is the first Jag to be invited to play in the postseason all-star game since Brandon Bridge participated in 2015.

Minter and the Jaguars will be back in action Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at Georgia State.
