MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's and women's track and field teams will begin the indoor season Friday at the Blazer Invitational hosted by Alabama-Birmingham at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

NOTES
-Last indoor season, the Jaguar women finished second and the men placed fourth at the 2018 Sun Belt Indoor Championships. 
-USA returns nine all-conference honorees, including Freshman of the Year and Newcomer of the Year Hanna-Mai Vaikla.
-Forty-five Jaguars, including 11 newcomers, are set to compete in the season-opening meet. 
-Field events will begin Friday at 9 a.m. with the men's shot put. Running events are set to start at 10:45 a.m. with the women's 5,000m.

On the team's excitement for the indoor season: "The athletes have been working hard. The fall is not always the most fun time, but they're working hard and I think they've made good progress. We're just anxious to get out and compete." 

On the incoming freshman class: "We have a number of athletes that I feel like have the ability to compete as true freshmen. However, they're going to have to do it. They're going to have to grow up. How quickly they adapt to the collegiate level of competition is going to help determine our overall success."
