MOODIE'S QUOTES ON ALABAMA A&M
On preparations for Wednesday
: "As good as can be expected. The weather has helped out quite a bit; we've been able to get on our field almost every day. We're young, so this is a good contest for us. It's by no means a walk in the park, but it'll be good competition for us to get an idea of where we're at and benchmark where we're going to be this season. We had a good practice yesterday working on a few things for the game. The freshmen are starting to step up and we're starting to see glimpses of what we can be. I keep having to remind myself that we have just one senior. If we can make a good push this year, this team can stay together for the next two or three years."

On what he wants to get out of the game: "We want to see the players get some playing time. We want to see if they can play in the big games and the conference games, and see who'll we'll be able to count on. It's important that we get to see everybody play. I think that's what preseason is about. What have in our head what the starting XI should look like, but then every day in practice, someone does something and you realize that could work too. The big thing for us is to get glimpses of players and what they can offer the team."

On if the new midfielders will be up for the task: "The hardest thing to do was replace Danielle Henley, a four-time all-Sun Belt player, and Chelsea Followwell, who went under the radar in her four years. She did a lot of work off the ball. When you transition with coaches, you lose years of recruiting. So we went after predominantly international players that played with their national teams. We went after experience and players that would fit our model. We finished the (2017) season well, we went into the spring, looked really good, and now we add 13 new players and you're having to re-coach it. The returning girls have made it easy on us because they've taken the new girls under their wing. We always want to control the middle of the park and build through the middle, and we have at least five girls that can handle that responsibility."
