The all-time series between South Alabama and Coastal Carolina is even at 4-4 entering the weekend. The Chanticleers took two of three games at Stanky Field last season, and edged out the Jaguars for first place in the Sun Belt Conference East Division by a half-game. The schools first met in 2005 with CCU winning two of three games.

USA carries a three-game win streak into the weekend after sweeping Appalachian State in three games last weekend at Stanky Field. The Jaguars limited the Mountaineers to just one run in three games, and recorded shutouts in the final two games of the series, which came on a doubleheader last Saturday.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers entered the week ranked in all five major polls: Baseball America (18th), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (21st), D1Baseball (24th), USA Today/Coaches (24th) and Collegiate Baseball (27th). CCU fell 6-1 at No. 6 Clemson Tuesday, which marked its second consecutive loss after dropping the final game of last weekend's SBC series at Georgia Southern 5-4. The Chanticleers carry a four-game home winning streak into the series after winning four straight at Springs Brooks Stadium March 20-24, which includes a midweek win over then No. 10 Clemson and a three-game sweep of No. 30 Texas State. Coastal Carolina leads the SBC East Division entering the weekend. CCU leads the SBC in batting average (.289), slugging percentage (.493), OBP (.408), runs scored (264), hits (310), RBIs (229), doubles (81), home runs (41), total bases (528) and walks (186), and ranks second in the league in stolen bases (47). The CCU pitching staff leads the SBC in strikeouts (283), but has also issued the second-most walks (128) in the conference.
JAG DEFENSE IN SBC GAMES
South Alabama has committed just two errors in eight SBC games this season, and has played five consecutive league contests without committing an error. The Jags carry a .993 fielding percentage in conference games into this weekend's series.

Travis Swaggerty enters the series with 121 career walks, which ranks tied for fifth with Luis Gonzalez on the career list at USA. Swaggerty needs eight walks to pass Tyrone Dixon (127) for fourth on the all-time list.
CARR NEARS 100 CAREER Ks
Right-hander Tyler Carr enters Friday's start with 97 career strikeouts, needing just three to eclipse the 100-strikeout mark in his Jaguar career. Carr has struck out 97 batters against 37 walks in 120 2/3 innings pitched in his career.
DONOVAN NEARS 100 CAREER RBIs
Third baseman Brendan Donovan enters the series with 97 career RBIs; however, he has driven in just one run in his last four games and recorded two hits in that span.
PROCTOR LIMITING EARNED RUNS
Left-hander Jared Proctor enters Saturday's start having allowed just one earned run in 17 1/3 innings pitched this season, which came on March 18 against ULM. Proctor combined to shut out App State in his first career start last weekend, allowing just two hits with a career-high five strikeouts in a career-best five innings pitched.

Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the weekend tied for the SBC lead in walks (30), ranked third in OBP (.473), and tied for eighth in home runs (5).
DONOVAN NEAR SBC LEAD IN SACRIFICE FLIES
Third baseman Brendan Donovan enters the week ranked second in the Sun Belt in sacrifice flies (4), which ranks 25th nationally.
HARDY'S ON-BASE STREAK SNAPPED
Left fielder Dylan Hardy had his on-base streak snapped at 25 games last weekend in game two of the Appalachian State series, marking the first game this season the junior has not reached base safely. Hardy has recorded multiple hits in three of his last four games, including tying a season high with three in the series finale with App State. He leads the SBC in stolen bases (15), ranks tied for second in hits (40), third in batting average (.367) and sixth in OBP (.457).
DAVIS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN RBIs, WALKS
First baseman Wells Davis ranks fourth in the Sun Belt Conference in walks (25), tied for fourth in RBIs (28) and tied for eighth in home runs (5).
LUFT IN SBC GAMES
Shortstop Will Luft has hit safely in six of seven SBC games played this season, including five straight entering the series opener. Luft ranks ninth in batting average (.409) in SBC games entering the weekend.
CARR'S STARTS THIS YEAR
Right-hander Tyler Carr has recorded quality starts in five of his seven starts this season, and has pitched at least six innings in every start. He tied his career high in innings pitched (7.0) in his win at Georgia State on March 24, but issued a season-high four walks.
