THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
On the matchup against UTA: "It's definitely going to be a tough first round. This year they used a different format for seeding. It turned out UTA had a similar year to us. They had some good wins, but yet they had some losses I think they'd like to take back just like us. I think they fell a little lower in the national rankings than they were expecting and lower than we were expecting as well. At the end of the day you have to win three matches in three days to win the conference championship. Sometimes it's better to have a tough first round because it gets you into the tournament instead of having a little easier round and hitting a big team. I think this year there are easily six teams that could win the tournament. It's going to be a battle in the first round matchups. UTA is very similar to us in that their top-three guys are having a good year and then our bottom three came along a little later in the season. They got much better and now we feel that we are strong at every position and UTA is similar."
On what is important for the team to advance: "I think for us, doubles is going to be key. We love to start with strong doubles. We believe we're strong in doubles. It is important for us to get the momentum going into in singles."
