This weekend's series marks the first-ever meeting between South Alabama and Texas Tech.

• South Alabama is ranked No. 11 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 15 by D1Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and No. 21 by Baseball America this week. The Jags were ranked No. 23 in the 2018 USA Today/Coaches preseason poll.

• South Alabama enters the weekend as the nation's leader in walks (69), ranks 14th in sacrifice flies (6), 16th in doubles (21), 18th in runs scored (77) and 24th in hits (93).

• This weekend's series with No. 3 Texas Tech marks the fifth nationally-ranked opponent South Alabama has faced this season. The Jaguars are 2-2 against top-25 opponents this year, with wins over No. 18 Oklahoma and No. 13 Southern Miss, and losses to No. 18 Auburn and No. 23 Indiana.

• Texas Tech is the highest nationally-ranked opponent USA has faced since hosting No. 3 Louisiana in a three-game series at Stanky Field in 2014.

• The Jaguars lead the Sun Belt Conference in walks (69) and sacrifice flies (6), ranks second in the league in hits (93), on-base percentage (.417), runs (77) and runs per game (8.6), and third in batting average (.288), doubles (21) and home runs (8).

• The South Alabama pitching staff ranks second in the SBC in innings pitched (83.1), tied for second in saves (3), and third in strikeouts (78); however, the Jaguars have also issued the most walks (46) in the league.

SWAGGERTY LEADS NATION IN WALKS
Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the series as the nation's leader in walks (14). Swaggerty has reached base in every game this season entering the weekend.

DAVIS, DONOVAN AMONG NATION'S LEADERS IN WALKS
First baseman Wells Davis ranks fourth nationally in walks (12) entering the weekend, while shortstop Brendan Donovan ranks eighth in the country in walks (11).

HARDY LEADS SBC IN HITS, RANKS IN TOP 15 NATIONALLY
Outfielder Dylan Hardy leads the Sun Belt Conference in hits (16), and ranks 15th nationally entering the series. Hardy carries a five-game hitting streak into the weekend, and has hit safely in eight of nine games this season.

SWAGGERTY LEADS SBC
Center fielder Travis Swaggerty leads the Sun Belt Conference in walks (14) and on-base percentage (.587), ranks second in the league in slugging percentage (.767), and tied for third in home runs (3). 

LAMBERT TIED FOR LEAGUE LEAD IN SAVES
Right-hander Chase Lambert is tied for second in the SBC in saves (2), and tied for third in the league in appearances (5).

RUSSO LEADS LEAGUE IN ABs
Third baseman Paul Russo leads the SBC in at-bats (47), and ranks fifth in hits (14).

DAVIS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN RBIs, WALKS
First baseman Wells Davis ranks tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference in walks (12), and third in RBIs (13) entering the weekend. Davis has recorded three games with multiple RBIs this season, and has driven in at least one run in seven of nine contests. 

HITTING / ON-BASE STREAKS
Travis Swaggerty carries a team-best seven-game hitting streak into the weekend, while Michael Sandle has hit safely in six straight contests. Sandle, Swaggerty, Wells Davis, Paul Russo and Dylan Hardy have each reached base safely in every game this season entering the series.

DONOVAN, SANDLE AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
Shortstop Brendan Donovan and outfielder Michael Sandle are tied for the SBC lead in sacrifice flies (2). Sandle also ranks fourth in the league in RBI (12), and sixth in batting average (.370) and hits (13). Donovan also ranks tied for fourth in doubles (4), and tied for sixth in RBI (9).

South Alabama enters the weekend 3-1 in day games, and 4-1 in night games this season. 

WINNING WITH WALKS
The Jaguar pitching staff has issued 46 walks and hit 11 batters through nine games this season, which spans 83 1/3 innings. 

OFFENSIVE RUNS / HITS PER GAME
South Alabama is averaging 10 hits and eight-and-a-half runs scored per game through nine contests, but the Jaguars are also averaging over 10 strikeouts offensively against 7.7 walks-per-game.
