AUBURN, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team (1-3) fell in a tightly contested battle with the Auburn Tigers 4-3 on Friday.

DOUBLES
- Auburn's Carles Sarrio and Diego Chavarria took the first doubles match on court three, 6-1, over Max Lapraille and Santiago di Loreto.
- The Jags rallied to take the match on court two as Olivier Gingras and Sacha Modica took down Olle Thestrup and Tad Maclean, 7-5.
- South Alabama took the doubles point with Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol defeated Edward Nguyen/Matteo De Vincentis, 7-6 (8-6), on court one.
 
SINGLES
- Modica fell to Sarrio 6-0, 6-3 on court three.
- Gingras was defeated by Olle Thestrup, 6-3, 6-3, on court four.
- Marzol took down Edward Nguyen in straight sets on court one, 6-3, 7-5.
- Lucas Gonzalez lost a tightly contested two-set battle with Maclean, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).
- Cloes took a three-set match over De Vincentis, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
- Auburn clinched the match on court six as Lapraille fell in three sets to Brandon Laubser, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

On today's match: "Today was very disappointing because we thought we had them. But we are a very young team and we are learning. We are getting better every match. Having five new players is tough, but they are learning and improving. Soon they will be able to pull out those big important matches."
 
On doubles play: "We showed a lot of character in doubles. It was a big point for us because Auburn played really good doubles."
 
Takeaways from the today: "Once again, Clement [Marzol] and Loic [Cloes] showed they can compete with anybody in the country Once our new guys mature up we will be very solid."
