MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis kicked off the spring with a 6-1 dual victory over Xavier University of Louisiana at Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
 
XAVIER (La.)
- The Jags swept their doubles matches with the combinations of Loic Cloes and Santiago Di Loreto and Olivier Gingras and Nathan Fruh picking up the victories.
- Maxime Lapraille took his opening match at South Alabama over Niculescu in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, on court 3.
- On court 4, Di Loreto defeated Anders in straight sets 7-6 (9-7), 6-2.
- Collin Scheufler dropped his first match as Jag, 2-6, 2-6, to Andrien.
- Cloes and Gingras took their matches in three-sets over Fifea and Chikhaouni, respectively.
 
NOTES
- USA opened dual competitions with a win for the second straight season.
- Xavier (La.) forfeited a doubles and singles match as they did not have enough players.
- Next weekend the Jags will compete in the ITA Kickoff in Gainesville, Fla.
- South Alabama will start action on Friday against Florida, before facing either South Florida or Pepperdine on Saturday.

On the opening spring match: "Today was a good first day. Some good moments, some bad. It was perfect to see where we are at and what we need to fix before next week. It was good to see our freshman Max [Lapraille] and Santi[ago Di Loreto] give us two big wins. Oli[vier Gingras] was our vocal leader out there. He also played a good role as he clinched the win for us."
