All-Time Series
Appalachian State holds a 4-3 all-time lead over South Alabama in a series that began in 1973. The Mountaineers took two of three games from the Jaguars last season in Boone after USA entered the series with a 15-0 Sun Belt Conference record. USA took two of three from App State in 2015 at Stanky Field in the Mountaineers' first season as a member of the SBC. App State defeated USA 4-3 in the 1973 NCAA District 3 Regional in Starkville, Miss., in the first-ever meeting between the schools.

Last Time Out
South Alabama rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat No. 10 LSU 7-6 Tuesday in Baton Rouge, La. Trailing 5-4 after eight frames, the Jaguars pushed across three runs in the top of the ninth inning on a pinch-hit RBI sacrifice bunt by Matt Bolger, a sacrifice fly by Jared Barnes and RBI single by Will Luft. USA left-hander Andy Arguelles (3-2) tossed a career-high 6 1/3 innings in relief, and allowed just four hits while striking out a career-high eight batters with no walks to earn the win. Jaguar right-hander Matt Peacock allowed one run on two hits with one strikeout in one inning pitched to record his ninth save of the season. The win marked the Jaguars' first victory over LSU since 1997.

On Appalachian State
The Mountaineers dropped two of three games at Troy last weekend, and have lost five of their last six games dating back to the second game of the Arkansas State series on April 29. App State is 6-10 at home this season. The Mountaineers rank 11th in the SBC in batting average (.246), slugging percentage (.360), runs scored (217) and RBI (189), and has more strikeouts (432) than any other conference offense. The App State pitching staff ranks 11th in the league in opposing batting average (.287).

JAGS IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
South Alabama enters the weekend as the nation's leader in walks (303), ranks seventh in on-base percentage (.412), eighth in sacrifice flies (29), ninth in runs scored (389) and 11th in runs per game (7.9).

LABOUNTY, SWAGGERTY IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
Shortstop Drew LaBounty enters the series ranked second nationally in walks per game (1.07) and fifth in walks (44). Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the weekend ranked ninth nationally in on-base percentage (.498). 

JAGS AWAY FROM STANKY FIELD
USA enters the series 15-13 in 28 games away from Stanky Field, which includes 23 road contests and five neutral-site games. The Jags are batting .289 with 46 doubles, five triples, 39 home runs, 185 RBI, 198 runs scored and 27 stolen bases in those 28 games, led by Travis Swaggerty who is hitting .370 with seven doubles, four home runs, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a .457 on-base percentage in 27 games away from Stanky Field. 

TWO OR FEWER TO WIN
USA is 11-1 when allowing two or fewer runs, but is 20-17 when surrendering three or more. The Jags have allowed three or more runs in 11 of their last 12 contests, but are 9-3 during that span.

LEADING AFTER SEVEN
USA is 25-1 when leading after seven innings this season, but is 2-13 when trailing and 3-4 when tied after seven frames. USA trailed No. 10 LSU 5-4 after seven frames in Tuesday's win.

TWO-OUT RBI
Of USA's 350 team RBI, 136 have come with two outs which accounts for 39 percent of the Jaguars' team RBI total. Travis Swaggerty leads the squad with 19 two-out RBI this season, while Jared Barnes ranks second with 17.

JAG OFFENSE LEADS THE SUN BELT CONFERENCE 
South Alabama enters the series as the Sun Belt Conference leader in batting average (.298), slugging percentage (.457), on-base percentage (.412), runs scored (389), RBI (350), total bases (759), sacrifice flies (29) and walks (303), and ranks second in the league in hits (494) and home runs (53). 

JAGS WITH BASES LOADED
South Alabama is hitting .476 (39-for-82) with the bases loaded this season, led by Travis Swaggerty who has seven hits and is hitting .636 with the bags full of Jags. USA has hit six grand slams this season, led by Eddie Paparella with two, following Jared Barnes' game-winning grand slam on April 11 at New Orleans.

RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
The Jags are batting .315 (177-for-562) with runners in scoring position.Travis Swaggerty leads the team with 22 hits with RISP. The Jags hit just .258 (8-for-31) with RISP in last weekend's three-game series with Little Rock.

TEN OR MORE RUNS
USA is 11-1 when scoring 10 or more runs this season and 24-7 when scoring six or more, but is 7-11 when scoring five or less. 

EARLY/LATE-INNING RUN PRODUCTION
South Alabama has outscored the opposition 46-18 in the first inning and 31-6 in the ninth inning this season. USA has allowed more runs (50) in the third inning than any other inning this season.

JAG BATS LAST WEEK
South Alabama hit .288 with four doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases in three games last week. Will Luft led the squad with a .455 (5-for-11) batting average. Travis Swaggerty, Wells Davis, Jared Barnes and Colton Thomas each homered during the three-game series.

ON-BASE, HITTING STREAKS
Shortstop Drew LaBounty carries a 10-game hitting streak and 16-game on-base streak into the series. Will Luft has hit safely in four straight games, and Travis Swaggerty has reached base safely in nine consecutive contests. 

SWAGGERTY LEADING THE SUN BELT
Outfielder Travis Swaggerty enters the week as the Sun Belt Conference leader in batting average (.378) and on-base percentage (.498), ranks second in RBI (47), tied for second in runs scored (45) and stolen bases (18), third in walks (37), tied for fourth in hits (65) and tied for sixth in home runs (8) and total bases (100).

PEACOCK'S LAST 10 APPEARANCES
After allowing a season-high three runs at Southeastern Louisiana on April 4, right-hander Matt Peacock has gone 2-1 with six saves in 10 appearances, and has allowed just four earned runs on 17 hits in 24 2/3 innings pitched with a 1.46 ERA and 26 strikeouts against seven walks in that span. Peacock has not allowed a run in 13 of his 20 appearances this season, including his last three of his last four which spans 9 2/3 innings.

BELL AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
Right-hander Randy Bell enters Friday's start as the Sun Belt Conference leader in strikeouts looking (32). Bell ranks second in the league in innings pitched (80.0), and fifth in strikeouts (80).
