ALL-TIME SERIES
South Alabama holds a 61-33 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that dates back to 1967. The Jaguars took three of four games from the Golden Eagles last season, winning both regular-season contests before splitting a pair of games at the NCAA Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional.

LAST TIME OUT
USA swept a three-game series from Georgia State last weekend at Stanky Field after defeating Alabama State 13-4 last Tuesday in Montgomery, Ala. The Jaguars carry a season-best six-game winning streak into Tuesday's contest. 

JAG NOTES
• South Alabama leads the Sun Belt Conference in slugging percentage (.461), on-base percentage (.426), runs scored (214) and RBI (190), and ranks second in batting average (.304), hits (247) and home runs (25).

JAGS IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
South Alabama ranks second nationally in walks (153), fifth in on-base percentage (.456) and scoring (8.9 runs per game), and seventh in runs scored (214).

SWAGGERTY IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
Center fielder Travis Swaggerty leads the SBC in OBP (.556), which ranks fourth nationally. Swaggerty also leads the league in batting average (.413) and slugging percentage (.667), ranks second in RBI (27), tied for second in stolen bases (12), fourth in walks (20), tied for fourth in runs scored (23) and seventh in hits (31).

ARGUELLES AS STARTER
Freshman left-hander Andy Arguelles is 2-0 with a 4.97 ERA in three starts this season, and has recorded 11 strikeouts against five walks in 12 2/3 innings in games he has started. Overall, Arguelles has made seven total appearances and enters Tuesday's start with a 5.19 ERA in 17 1/3 innings pitched.

TWO OR FEWER TO WIN
USA is 6-1 when allowing two or fewer runs, but is 9-8 when surrendering three or more. USA has won its last four contests in which it allows three or more runs, dating back to a March 18 win at Georgia Southern. 

TWO-OUT RBI
Of USA's 190 team RBI, 80 have come with two outs. Travis Swaggerty leads the team with 13 two-out RBI this season.

LEADING AFTER SEVEN
USA is 13-0 when leading after seven innings this season, but is 1-9 when trailing or tied after seven frames.

JAGS WITH BASES LOADED
South Alabama is hitting .521 (25-for-48) with the bases loaded this season, led by Travis Swaggerty who has five hits with the bags full of Jags.

RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
The Jags are batting .344 (97-for-282) with runners in scoring position. Eddie Paparella and Travis Swaggerty lead the team with 12 hits apiece with RISP.

TEN OR MORE RUNS
USA is 8-0 when scoring 10 or more runs this season and 12-3 when scoring six or more, but is 3-6 when scoring five or less. 

HITTING, ON-BASE STREAKS
Travis Swaggerty carries a team-best 21-game on-base streak into the contest, having reached base safely in every game he has played this season. Wells Davis and Eddie Paparella each carries a team-best four-game hitting streak into the game.

Home Run Production
South Alabama has homered in five of its last six games, with Sunday's series finale against Georgia Southern breaking the streak. The Jaguars have homered in 13 of their 24 games this season, and have 25 home runs entering Tuesday's contest at Southern Miss. USA hit 31 home runs in 2016.

JAG BATS HEATING UP
South Alabama batted .348 with 11 doubles, six home runs, 48 RBI and 55 runs scored in four games last week. USA scored double-digit runs in three of four contests while also recording one shutout. Brendan Donovan led the team with a .500 batting average, followed by Will Luft (.462), Dylan Hardy (.455) and Travis Swaggerty (.438).
