South Alabama holds a 15-2 all-time lead over Alabama State in a series that began in 1987. The Jaguars took two of three games from the Hornets last season with a 4-3 win in 10 innings at Stanky Field and a 6-3 win in the NCAA Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional. ASU defeated USA 12-7 in Montgomery for its lone win in the 2016 series.

In his last start, which came in a 14-3 win at Auburn on March 7, left-hander Andy Arguelles struck out a career-high five batters against two walks and allowed three runs on five hits in a career-high six innings pitched to earn his first career win at South Alabama.Â

DONOVAN DURING HITTING STREAK
Brendan Donovan is batting .429 (9-for-21) with four doubles, two home runs, five RBI, seven runs scored and one stolen base, along with a .538 on-base percentage and .938 slugging percentage during his current six-game hitting streak, which dates back to the Mississippi State contest on March 12 in Starkville, Miss.
BARNES HEATING UP
Catcher Jared Barnes batted .500 (6-for-12) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored along with a .571 OBP and 1.167 slugging percentage in last weekend's three-game series at Georgia Southern. He hit safely in all three contests, including consecutive multi-hit performances to close the weekend along with back-to-back multi-RBI games.
DAVIS LAST WEEK
First baseman Wells Davis hit .438 (7-for-16) with one double, one home run, three RBI and five runs scored while posting a .474 OBP and .688 slugging percentage in four games last week. He hit safely in three of four contests, all of which were multiple-hit performances, and also drove in runs in three of four games.Â
SWAGGERTY NAMED SBC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Travis Swaggerty was named the SBC Player of the Week on March 14 after hitting .556 (10-for-18) with two doubles, one home run, nine RBI, four runs scored and three stolen bases while posting a .636 on-base percentage and .833 slugging percentage in five games. He recorded two multiple-hit games, including a career-high four hits at Auburn along with a career-high four RBI, and finished with three hits and three RBI against Mississippi State. Swaggerty hit safely in all five games and drove in runs in three of five contests, all of which were multi-RBI performances.
