NO. 21 JAG BASEBALL TO HOST SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA



MOBILE, Ala. – The 21st-ranked University of South Alabama baseball team will host Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Stanky Field.

USA (25-8) carries a 13-game home winning streak into Tuesday's contest, which will be broadcast live on 99.5 FM The Jag and also available via the iHeartRadio app. Live streaming will be available through JagNationTV.com, while live stats will be available at USAJaguars.coam. In-game updates will be provided through the Jaguar baseball Twitter account (@SouthALBaseball).

Jaguar right-hander Randy Bell (1-1) will make his fourth start of the season and his second against SLU. Bell tossed 5 1/3 innings in the previous matchup between the schools on March 15 in Hammond, La., and allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk in the loss. SLU will send right-hander Pat Cashman (3-0) will make his seventh start of the season in Tuesday's game. Cashman also started the previous meeting between the schools, and allowed two runs on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks in two innings pitched.

South Alabama leads the Sun Belt in sacrifice flies (22), which ranks second nationally. The Jaguars also lead the league in walks (188), which ranks third in the country, on-base percentage (.394), runs scored (226), stolen bases (54). USA is tied for the league lead in RBI (202). The Jaguar pitching staff ranks second in the conference in fewest walks allowed (96), fewest runs allowed (139) and innings pitched (297.2).

Center fielder Cole Billingsley leads the SBC in stolen bases (16), steal attempts (20), tied for first in sacrifice flies (6) - which ranks second nationally - and tied for fourth in sacrifice bunts. Drew LaBounty is tied for the SBC lead in walks (27) and sacrifice flies (6), the latter of which ranks second nationally. LaBounty is tied for second in the league in stolen bases (9), ranks third in on-base percentage (.476), tied for fifth in RBI (29) and tied for eight in batting average (.352).

Danny Martinez ranks third in the Sun Belt Conference in RBI (31), while right fielder Travis Swaggerty ranks third in the league in walks (26), fifth in runs scored (32) and on-base percentage (.464) and tied for seventh in doubles (9).

Left-hander Shane McKinley ranks tied for third in the league in saves (6), while southpaw James Traylor is tied for third in wins (5).

South Alabama holds a 40-18 all-time lead over Southeastern Louisiana in a series that dates back to 1984. The Lions have won five straight games over the Jaguars. The last USA win in the series came in 2013 in a 9-0 shutout of SLU at Stanky Field.  The Lions defeated the Jaguars 9-2 on March 15 this season in Hammond, La.

SLU (25-8) took two of three games at Northwestern State last weekend, and have won five of their last six contests. The Lions are 9-2 on the road this season, and are led by Jameson Fisher who leads the team in batting average (.491), doubles (7), home runs (8), RBI (40), total bases (85), slugging percentage (.802), walks (29) and on-base percentage (.597).
