No. 66 MEN’S TENNIS WRAPS UP HOME SEASON THIS TUESDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – In their final home match of the season, the University of South Alabama men's tennis team will host Jackson State for Senior Day on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

Seniors Daniel Leitner (Niederfischbach, Germany) and Manuel Belda (Posadas, Misiones, Argentina) will be recognized at tomorrow's match. Leitner, ranked No. 98 in the nation, leads the team with a 24-5 record overall and a 15-4 mark in his spring season. Belda owns a 5-14 record overall.

"Senior Day is always special," said USA head coach Nick Brochu. "Daniel and Manuel have been very important players for our program. Daniel definitely achieved way more than we expected when we first recruited him. We knew he would get there, but we were surprised at how fast he got up there and how extremely well he performed. Manuel only played for us for two years, but he was a good asset. Last year in the Sun Belt Conference tournament, he won some important matches at No. 2 singles and put us in a good position to win. Both seniors will be hard to replace."

After splitting matches in Virginia, the 66th-ranked Jaguars are now 12-8 in their spring campaign, including a 4-2 mark in home matches. South Alabama fell 4-3 to Old Dominion last Friday, but rebounded with a 6-1 victory over UAB on Saturday.

Tuesday will mark the second-ever meeting between USA and JSU. The two teams met last January in Mobile, and the Jags won 6-1.

The Tigers are currently 2-18 in their spring season and have dropped their last eight matches.

"Our goal for the match tomorrow is to play with intensity and confidence," said Brochu. "We want to play the match against Jackson State like we plan to play at the conference tournament in just a little more than a week from now. We want to have three solid doubles, six relentless singles and nothing less."

South Alabama was originally scheduled to faced JSU earlier this season, but the match was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
