MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will face Southeastern Louisiana at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Alumni Field in Hammond, La.
USA (22-11) will send right-hander Ryne Long (2-2) to the mound for his ninth start of the season, while SLU (24-9) right-hander Pat Cashman (2-3) is scheduled to make his fifth start of the year.

South Alabama went 4-1 last week after midweek wins over Mississippi State and Jackson State at Stanky Field, and a series win at Arkansas State. The Jags took two of three games from the Red Wolves over the weekend with a 13-10 win in the series opener, and a 2-1 victory in the series finale. USA defeated MSU 8-7 in 11 innings last Tuesday, which improved the Jaguars' record to 4-0 in extra innings. South Alabama shut out Jackson State 2-0 Wednesday in Mobile, marking its fourth shutout of the season.
The Jags went 6-2 over a 10-day stretch which included last week's wins, as well as two victories the previous week at Louisiana-Monroe. USA batted .285 on the week, while the pitching staff posted a 3.13 ERA with three saves.
USA leads the Sun Belt Conference in batting average (.290), on-base percentage (.390), hits (329) and walks (152). The Jags also lead the league in ERA (3.27) and strikeouts (249), and rank second in fielding percentage (.973).
Adam Ballew is tied for the league lead in sacrifice flies (5), while Cole Billingsley ranks second in the conference in stolen bases (15). Billingsley is tied for third in the SBC in walks (21), and is tied for fifth in hits (41) along with Bud Collura.
SLU is 15-3 at home and has won nine of its last 11 contests after taking two of three games from Northwestern State over the weekend in Hammond. The Lions are batting .299 as a team, while the pitching staff has posted a 3.79 ERA in 33 contests.
SLU defeated the Jags 4-1 earlier this season at Stanky Field. USA holds a 40-16 all-time lead in a series that began in 1984.
