MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will travel to Jacksonville, Ala., for a pair of midweek games against Jacksonville State, beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Rudy Abbott Field.
The second contest of the two-game set is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch Wednesday. Both games will be broadcast live on WNTM 710 AM in Mobile, and can be accessed via the iHeartRadio app. Lives stats will be available at USAJaguars.com, and in-game updates provided at Twitter.com/SouthALBaseball.
South Alabama (25-15) dropped two of three games at Evansville last weekend. The Jaguars won the series opener before dropping both games of a Saturday doubleheader. USA leads the Sun Belt Conference in batting average (.289), on-base percentage (.385), hits (398) and walks (182). The South Alabama pitching staff leads the league in ERA (3.54) and strikeouts (305), while the Jaguar defense ranks second in the conference with a .972 fielding percentage.
Jacksonville State (19-19) enters the week with a four-game losing streak after falling to Alabama State in a midweek contest last week, and dropping a three-game series at Southeast Missouri over the weekend.
Ryan Sebra leads the Gamecocks in batting average (.369), hits (55), doubles (12), home runs (5), RBI (34), total bases (86) and slugging percentage (.577).
Jaguar left-hander Austin Stephens (1-1) will make his third start of the season in Tuesday's contest. USA has not announced its starter for the finale, while JSU has not announced a starter for either contest.
