JAG BASEBALL TO HOST MSU, JSU IN MIDWEEK ACTION




MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will host Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stanky Field, and will host Jackson State at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Both games will be streamed live and available for purchase at JagNationTV.com. Each game will also be broadcast live on WNTM 710 AM in Mobile, and available through the iHeartRadio app. Live stats will be available at USAJaguars.com, and in-game updates will be provided at Twitter.com/SouthALBaseball.

USA (18-10) has won three of its last four games, and six of its last eight dating back to a 9-2 win over Alabama State on March 17. The Jags lead the Sun Belt Conference in batting average (.291), fielding percentage (.977), on-base percentage (.388), hits (280), sacrifice flies (16) and stolen bases (41), and are tied for first in walks (123) and hit by pitch (41). The USA pitching staff ranks second in the league in ERA (3.29) and strikeouts (212).

MSU (19-11) snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over Auburn in Sunday's series finale in Starkville. The Bulldogs have dropped three of their last four games entering Tuesday's contest.

USA will send right-hander Matt Peacock (0-0) to the mound for his first career start, while MSU will give left-hander Daniel Brown (1-0) his first career start.

Mississippi State holds a 44-24 all-time series lead over South Alabama. The series began in 1976 in Starkville, Miss. The Bulldogs have won the last six meetings in the series, with South Alabama's last victory in the series coming in 2009 with a 17-12 win at Stanky Field, led by David Doss (3-for-5, 2 HR, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 2 R) and Adam Heisler (3-for-5, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, 1 SB).

USA is 11-1 all-time against Jackson State after the Tigers earned their first win in the history of the series, which began in 1990, last season in Jackson, Miss.
