MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will travel to Arlington, Texas, for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series with Texas-Arlington this weekend.
The series will kick off with game one Friday at 6:30 p.m., followed by game two Saturday at 2 p.m. The series finale is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
Live stats for all three games will be available through the multimedia section at USAJaguars.com, while in-game updates will be provided at Twitter.com/SouthALBaseball. The games will be broadcast live on WNTM 710 AM in Mobile, and available via the iHeartRadio app, unless the USA men's basketball team – which will begin play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Thursday evening against UALR in New Orleans – has a game at the same time. In that instance, the USA baseball game will be available in an audio-only format through JagNationTV.com.
USA right-hander Kevin Hill (0-0) will make his second start of the season in the series opener, while UTA will counter with right-hander Chad Nack (2-0). Ryne Long (1-1) will make his fifth start of the year in Saturday's contest. Long has combined with Jaguar relievers to record shutouts in his last two starts. UTA will send southpaw Brad Vassar (1-2) to the mound in game two of the series. Jaguar left-hander Jared Gates (1-0) will get the start in the series finale, while UTA will counter with right-hander Joel Kuhnel (1-0).
The three-game set will mark South Alabama's first road series of the season. The Jags have played just one road game – a 6-3 win at Alabama State – in their first 17 games.
UTA holds a 4-0 all-time series lead over USA. The Mavericks swept a three-game series at Stanky Field last season, and defeated the Jags 8-4 in the SBC Tournament.
