MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Break sees the University of South Alabama men's tennis team in Florida with matches against Florida A&M and North Florida.
The Jaguars will face the Rattlers Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Tallahassee and the Ospreys Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Jacksonville.
South Alabama enters the week with a 6-3 mark in their spring campaign. The 47th-ranked Jags faced Troy last Thursday and lost 4-3 after the Trojans took the doubles point and three singles matches. Troy also snapped the Jaguars five-match win streak.
"After having a bad performance a few days ago, these next two matches are really important," said USA head coach Nick Brochu. "We need to bounce back and play like we are capable of playing. We all need to step up and get two wins on this trip."
USA leads the all-time series with FAMU 7-1, after a 4-2 victory last January. The Rattlers and Jaguars have met in each of the previous five seasons.
North Florida, ranked No. 55 in the nation, enters Wednesday's clash with an 8-2 record overall and a 4-0 mark at home. The Ospreys own a five-match win streak and have defeated five out of six opponents ranked in the top 75 this spring.
Jack Findel-Hawkings is ranked No. 85 and leads UNF with a 5-1 mark at the No. 1 spot. Findel-Hawkings currently holds a three-match win streak and boasts a 6-4, 6-4 victory over then No. 85 David Biosca of East Tennessee.
"North Florida is a very competitive opponent," said Brochu. "They beat us last year. It came down to the doubles point, which we played after singles. We feel more confident this year. I anticipate a good battle this year."
