JAG BASEBALL TO HOST AUBURN TUESDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will host Auburn at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stanky Field.

The game will be broadcast live in Mobile on WNTM 710 AM, and is also available via the iHeartRadio app. Every Jaguar home game will be streamed live and available for purchase through the All-Access section of USAJaguars.com. Live stats for each game are also available through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com, while in-game updates are provided at Twitter.com/SouthALBaseball.

South Alabama (3-0) will put its three-game winning streak on the line against Auburn (2-1) who took two of three games from Binghamton over the weekend. USA swept its three-game series against New Orleans at Stanky Field.

USA holds a 47-24 all-time lead over Auburn in a series that dates back to 1968. Auburn has won the last two meetings (2012, '14). The Jags last defeated the Tigers in 2011 at Stanky Field by a final score of 8-1, which also marked the last meeting between the schools in Mobile. South Alabama has won the last four meetings at Stanky Field dating back to 2008. USA is 22-9 all-time against Auburn at Stanky Field.

Jaguar left-hander Jared Gates (0-0) will make his first appearance of the season with the start in Tuesday's contest. Gates started in the last meeting between the schools, and allowed two runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings pitched. Auburn will counter with right-hander Keegan Thompson (1-0) who combined with two additional Tiger hurlers to shut out Binghamton in the season opener last Friday. Thompson allowed only one hit in four innings, and struck out five batters without issuing a walk.

USA third baseman Bud Collura carries an eight-game hitting streak into the game after closing the 2014 season with a five-game hitting streak, and hitting safely in all three games last weekend. Jared Barnes, Cole Gleason, Connor Hawthorne, Garrett DeGallier, Cole Billingsley, Drew LaBounty and Daniel Martinez also each hit safely in every game of the UNO series.

DeGallier leads the team in batting average (.545), runs scored (5), triples (1), home runs (1), total bases (11), slugging percentage (1.000) and on-base percentage (.615). As a team, the Jags are hitting .333 while the pitching staff carries a 2.33 ERA into the game.

Jordan Ebert leads Auburn in batting average (.455), home runs (1), RBI (4) and total bases (8) after its season-opening series. The Tigers are batting .296 as a team while the pitching staff enters Tuesday's contest with a 4.00 ERA.
