MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will play its final non-conference home game Tuesday when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. at Stanky Field.
The game will be streamed live and available for purchase through the All-Access section of USAJaguars.com. It will also be broadcast live on WNSP 105.5 FM in Mobile, and can be accessed online at WNSP.com. Jaguar left-hander Jared Gates (1-3) will make his eighth start of the season in Tuesday's contest, while SLU will send southpaw Kyle Cedotal (1-1) to the mound. In the schools' previous meeting this season in Hammond, La., on April 1, Cedotal earned the win in six innings pitched and allowed three runs on just four hits with a pair of strikeouts and two walks.
South Alabama holds a 40-14 all-time lead over SLU in a series that dates back to 1984. The Jags are 23-5 all-time against the Lions at Stanky Field, and shut out SLU 9-0 in last year's meeting in Mobile. SLU defeated USA 9-3 in this season's previous meeting.
USA (16-19) will look to snap a two-game losing skid after dropping the last two games of its three-game Sun Belt Conference series with Arkansas State last weekend at Stanky Field. The Jags are 6-4 in non-conference games at Stanky Field this season.
SLU (23-13) has won four of its last five games, and is 7-3 in its last 10 games after taking two of three games from Incarnate Word last weekend in Hammond. Jameson Fisher leads the Lions in batting average (.359), hits (47), runs scored (28), walks (18) and on-base percentage (.463).
