JAGS FALL IN SERIES FINALE AT UALR

Davis Knapp was one of two Jaguars to record a hit in Sunday's finale at UALR.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – UALR right-hander Cameron Allen tossed an eight-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Trojans to a 10-0 win over University of South Alabama baseball Sunday at Gary Hogan Field.

Allen (2-1) struck out three and allowed just two hits, and retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced in the game. Jaguar left-hander Jared Gates (1-2) allowed seven earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Ben Crumpton went 3-for-5 with one run scored to lead the Trojans at the plate, while Davis Knapp and Cole Gleason recorded one hit apiece for USA.

Drew Merten gave UALR a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second with a one-out, two-run homer to left field. Hayden Martin followed with a double, but was thrown out at the plate by Matt Bolger on an infield single to second by Crumpton one batter later.

UALR (11-10, 1-5 SBC) extended its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out, solo home run to left field by Bryson Thionnet.

The Trojans scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double by Joseph Paulino and RBI single from Austin Pfeiffer, to take a 8-0 lead.

UALR pushed one run across in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Scott, and scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth on a Jaguar error with the bases loaded.

South Alabama (12-10, 3-2 SBC) will return to action Tue., March 25, when it hosts Nicholls State at 6:30 p.m. at Stanky Field.
