MOBILE, Ala. – Following a three-match homestand, the University of South Alabama men's tennis team will travel to New Orleans on Saturday to take on Tulane for the second time this season.
The Jaguars will face the Green Wave in a rematch at 1 p.m. at the City Park Pepsi Center. The two teams met March 1 in the finals at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions when TU defeated USA 4-1.
"We have to learn from the match a few weeks ago," said USA head coach
Nick Brochu. "We won the doubles point, but Tulane fought back really hard. They didn't quit."
South Alabama enters the match with an 11-5 record in their spring campaign, coming off a 5-2 victory over Illinois State Thursday. After winning the doubles point, USA took the top four singles matches to secure the match.
Tulane owns a 10-4 mark overall and a 5-1 record at home. The Green Wave dropped their only home match on Wednesday 4-0 to No. 60 George Washington. USA leads the all-time series with TU 15-10.
Dominink Koepfer leads Tulane with a 12-1 mark at the top two spots, with his only loss being to 81st-ranked
Roberto Cid of No. 53 South Florida. Koepfer pairs with
Jao Chi-Shan for an 11-2 record at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles.
"We have to be ready for a big battle," said Brochu. "We will have to be aggressive and very solid on important points. We need to be mentally ready for possible three-set matches."
