NEW ORLEANS – After posting a solid senior season, South Alabama's Meghan Dunn was selected to the All-Sun Belt Conference Third Team on Tuesday, marking the first postseason all-conference honor for the Jaguar guard. Â
The three-team, 15-player all-conference squads and individual player award winners were selected by coaches and media members from around the league as announced by the conference office.
Dunn's selection marked the 12th-straight season USA has had at least one all-conference player. In its program history, the Jaguars have now had 22 players earn 37 all-conference selections.
On "Senior Night", Dunn closed out her career in grand fashion as she recorded a career-high 23 points and four steals, and was instrumental in helping the Jags capture a 60-57 overtime victory over Texas-Arlington. Dunn scored four-straight points in the closing seconds to send the game into the extra session and then hit four free throws to give USA the lead for good. In the final seconds, Dunn sealed the win at the defensive end of the floor as she blocked a game-tying three-point attempt.
Dunn ended the regular season tied with Georgia State's Kendra Long for 10th in the league in scoring. With opponents focusing on limiting her offensive production, she still managed to score double figures 20 times this season, including 13 of her 18 Sun Belt games. The Hoover, Ala., native also had a stretch of 10-straight double digit outings in conference play. Â
She led the club offensively 10 times and twice this season set then career-marks with 21 points versus Western and Texas-Arlington.  Â
The Jag senior also ranked as one of the top three-point shooters in the league this past season. Dunn connected on 40.3 percent of her long-range attempts and her 1.9 treys per game were tied with Alexar Tuglar (Louisiana-Monroe) for second-best in the conference. Â
Perhaps Dunn's best play came during the Sun Belt portion of the schedule as she has been the true leader for the Jags. Dunn averaged 13.4 ppg and shot 46.6 percent versus league foes, including 42.3 percent from the arc. She was also 47-of-56 from the free-throw line in league play for 83.9 percent.
With the losses of guards Brittany Webb and Colby Davis, Dunn was forced to take over at the point guard position where she has still managed to provide her scoring, while also directing the South Alabama offense. Over the final nine games, Dunn averaged 13.1 points and 3.2 assists per game in that role and dished out a career-high eight assists at Louisiana-Monroe. She ended the regular season in a three-way tied for 12th in the SBC in assists.
