MOBILE, Ala. – The 24th-ranked University of South Alabama baseball team will travel to Boca Raton, Fla., for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series with Florida Atlantic this weekend.
The series will kick off at 5:30 p.m. (CT) Friday with USA right-hander Brandon Boyle (1-1) set to square off with FAU left-hander Austin Gomber (2-1). Game two of the three-game set will begin at 3 p.m. (CT) Saturday, and will feature Jaguar left-hander Jacob Noble (3-0) going against Owl right-hander Jake Meiers (2-2). The series finale is scheduled for noon (CT) Sunday, with USA righty Jarron Cito (1-1) set to face FAU right-hander Jeremy Strawn (1-1).

South Alabama (22-4, 5-1 SBC) will put a five-game winning streak on the line in the series opener Friday evening. The Jaguars are hitting .330 with three doubles, four home runs, 33 RBI and 37 runs scored during its current winning streak. The Jaguar pitching staff has posted a 1.96 ERA with 47 strikeouts and 17 walks in 46 innings during that span, while limiting the opposition to a .204 batting average.
Whitt Dorsey has appeared in four games during the Jags’ current winning streak, and is batting .727 with a homer and six RBI during that span. Jordan Patterson is batting .526 in the last five games, while Cole Billingsley and Robby Campbell have each batted .429 during that stretch.
Florida Atlantic (16-9, 4-2 SBC) enters the weekend tied for third in the conference standings after taking two of three games at Arkansas State last weekend. A 6-1 win over Miami (Fla.) Wednesday sends the Owls into the weekend with a three-game winning streak.
FAU leads the SBC in ERA (3.02) and runs allowed (105). The FAU pitching staff has 205 strikeouts against 71 walks in 223 2/3 innings pitched this season.
The Owls enter the weekend with a .286 team batting average with 43 doubles, eight triples, 12 homers, 123 RBI and 132 runs scored in 25 games.
